NMHSCA releases all-state football list

ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico High School Coaches Association released its all-state football teams and North-South All-Star Game rosters during the past week.

Ten area players earned a spot on the South All-Star team and 23 earned all-state honors.

Gateway Christian’s Mason Miller and Bryce Silva and Lake Arthur’s Gerardo Rubio, Hector Salcido and Ever Tarango will represent the South in the 6M/8M/1A All-Star Game, which is slated for June 2 at 7 p.m. at Milne Stadium in Albuquerque.

First team all-state honors in 6-Man went to Lake Arthur’s Cody Dalton (quarterback and safety), Ty Dalton (offensive line and defensive line), Ever Tarango (cornerback and return specialist), Miguel Rubio (running back) and Gerardo Rubio (offensive line).

First team all-state honors in 8-Man went to Gateway Christian’s Mason Miller (quarterback and defensive back), Andrew Meeks (wide receiver) and Bryce Silva (defensive line).

Second team all-state honors in 1A went to Hagerman’s Erik Araro (offensive line and defensive line).

NMMI’s Chance Cavin will represent the South in the 2A/3A All-Star Game, which will be played on July 14 at 7 p.m. at Perkins Stadium in Las Vegas.

First team all-state honors in 2A went to Dexter’s Bryant Zavala (kicker). Second team all-state honors went to Dexter’s Miguel Rivera (offensive line) and Amador Amaya (defensive back).

Goddard’s David Anaya, Ryan Greene and David Strickland and Roswell’s Richard Medrano will represent the South in the 4A/5A All-Star Game, which is scheduled for Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. at Milne Stadium in Albuquerque.

First team all-state honors in 4A went to Goddard’s David Anaya (running back and defensive back), Kullen Wooten (offensive line) and Luis Herrera (linebacker).

Second team all-state honors went to Goddard’s Cody French (wide receiver and defensive back), Ryan Greene (quarterback), Josh Quiroz (wide receiver), Nik Aston (defensive end) and David Strickland (defensive end) and Roswell’s Richard Medrano (wide receiver), James Singleton (punter) and Alexis Chaidez (defensive line).
