ARTESIA — After suffering its first defeat of the season last Friday to Goddard, the Roswell boys basketball rebounded in a big way on Tuesday against Artesia.

The Coyotes opened up a 26-12 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in an 80-60 road win over the Bulldogs.

Roswell coach Britt Cooper said that his team came out ready to play.

“We just came out ready to play,” he said. “Saul Carrillo hit a couple of 3s and that kind of opened it up. We got the ball up and down. That was the kind of start we wanted.

“We had a really good first and third quarter and we will take a district win.”

Marquel Warner led Roswell (20-1 overall, 1-1 District 4-4A), while Carrillo added 18 points.

Anthony Olguin chipped in with 12 points for the Coyotes.
