Lady Colts win Consolation Championship at Warrior Invitational

The New Mexico Military Institute Lady Colt volleyball team won both of their games on Saturday at the Warrior Invitational. Both matches against Lake Arthur and Carrizozo were won in three sets.

The Lady colts took control of the first match of the day by defeating Lake Arthur 25-7, 25-20, 25-4 in three sets. This was the second time that the Lady Colts and Lady Panthers have met during the season where NMMI has taken both matches in three sets.

In the Consolation Championship match the Lady Colts faced the Lady Grizzlies. The Lady Colts did not trail much during the match, but the match remained close throughout. The big turning point in the match was in the second set where the Lady Colts were down 19-18 and ended the set on a 7-3 run to give them the set win (25-22) and put them up 2-0 in sets. The Lady Colts continued the momentum they had at the end of the second set to take the Consolation Championship in three sets.

Head Lady Colt Volleyball Coach Stephanie Schooley was pleased of the Lady Colts in today’s matches.

“We played a lot of volleyball this weekend, and I am proud of the way the girls played as a team the entire day.”

The Lady Colts next match will be against Mescalero Apache on Tuesday, Sep. 11th at 5:00 PM in Godfrey Athletic Center on the campus of NMMI.
